Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Happy Valentine's Day!!
Valentine's Day came a day early to first grade and there were smiles all over the room. We started our morning by reading with our 4th grade buddies. We love it when we get together since we only see them every other month.

After buddies, we squeezed in our math lesson. We're learning about fair shares (an intro to fractions) and worked with sharing dimes and pennies. We learned that it doesn't matter if you're sharing frogs, dinosaurs or flip flops (Gavin are you smirking after reading that?!) or even pennies and dimes... a fair share, is still a fair share- 1 for me and 1 for you.

Frosting cookies
Then we passed out our valentines. Everyone did a fantastic job finding the correct bags for their valentines to go in and those that finished quickly were so kind and helped friends that were having a hard time.

Hmmm.. which sprinkles to use?
We then frosted our own valentine cookies. Everyone got to choose 3 different cookie toppings and if they wanted vanilla or strawberry frosting. We had some pretty delicious creations!  Yum!

Checking out all of the wonderful cards
Once all of that was done, we took time to open and enjoy all of our valentines.  Have a wonderful weekend and Valentine's Day with your families!!
