Daily 5 and Listen to Reading

***Note from the office-- please let your children know that if they are running late in the morning and the bell has already rung (after 7:40) that they should go to the new office entrance (by the big parking lot near the flag poles) to get in. ALL OTHER DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCK AFTER THIS TIME.

This week we've been continuing to build our stamina for our various Daily 5 stations. One of the stations that we're working on is Listen to Reading. At this station your child has the opportunity to listen to stories from the Scholastic BookFlix site. This is a wonderful opportunity for your child to enjoy stories independently while being able to read along, hear fluency and expression and make connections. As part of our Listen to Reading time, we are also learning how to respond to literature. We are starting with sharing our favorite part in writing and through an illustration. As the year progresses, our responses will change to topics we are studying such as making text to self connections, or sharing what they learned from a non-fiction informational text. As your child shares their thoughts on their responses we will be hanging them in the room for others to read as a book recommendation.
Here are our class examples of our favorite part of Click, Clack, Moo: Cows that Type
