Using the Making 10 strategy in math

Hi Parents,
We have been learning about the Make 10 strategy in math. This is one of the 3 strategies that we learn to help us with our math facts. Using this strategy along with the count-on and doubles strategies helps us to build fact fluency.

The video below will help you to understand the concept when your child talks about Making Ten. We only use this strategy with the "Friends of 10" which are 7, 8, and 9. (Ask them to tell you about the problem that happened in the lunch room with these 3 numbers)

The video is a bit lengthy and goes shares the whole process with you but if you just watch the first 4 minutes you will get a good understanding of this concept to be able to support your child at home as well.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
