Reading:

Looking for some ideas on books that would be a good fit for your child this summer? Here are a few examples to get you started. Please remember that although a series may be listed as a specific level, books within that series may vary by a level or two.

Looking for agreat way to bring books into your home and give your child access to reading no matter where you are? Check out Epic Books. Epic offers a variety of books for kids up to age 12, including audiobooks and read to me books for younger readers and you can have up to 4 children per account! We currently use this app at school so your child will also be familiar with how to navigate around and search for books. You can access Epic from iDevices, Android, Kindle and your computer. On an iDevice your child will also be able to earn badges for time read, special days, etc and will move up levels as well. Who wouldn't want to considered a "Book Boss"? There is a monthly fee of $4.99 per month (1st month is free) but is well worth the investment.

Math:

Researchers have found that the lack of math skill practice over the long summer months results in an average loss of 2.6 months of study when measured from year to year. Here are some fun and easy options you can use. I'd recommend having your child practice their facts for 10 minutes three times a week.

Games:

1. Addition War: Use playing cards. Each player throws down 2 cards. Find the sum of the 2 cards. The person with the larger sum keeps the cards.
