Bubble gum fun!

This week, one of our learning targets for writing is: "I can stretch words out and write the sounds I hear" To help kiddos understand what stretching words out meant, we each got a piece of bubble gum and literally stretched our gum as we stretched our words. Albeit a bit sticky, we had a lot of fun and the kids definitely picked up on the point of the lesson. Today, we each got a piece of magic bubblegum to continue working on the stretching it out strategy, but without the mess and the sticky. Now, for the big "Whew!"~ We PROMISED to NEVER, EVER stretch real bubble gum at home unless mom or dad says it is ok to show them how we stretch words with bubblegum. Ask your child to tell you about our word stretching, OR if you are brave enough, have your child show you stretching the fun way.

  1. I loved the word stretching exercise and it was great to see it in action the last time I visited. It's such a great skill to have and really helps out on those long, tough words. Keep up the super job!
