Balls and Ramps

We started our balls and ramps unit this week in science. This kids are very excited as this is our first science unit of the year and it is a very hands-on unit. We started out by talking about what balls are and how we can identify them. We knew most of the factors- they are round, they are sphere-shaped, they roll and they sometimes bounce.
On Tuesday, we spent some time observing different types of balls: wiffle balls, ping pong balls, wooden balls, marbles, tennis balls, and an intertwine ball. We compared a variety of factors such as: what they are made of, what size they were, what color, what texture, etc. It gave us a fantastic opportunity to not only work together in groups but to also use our observational skills.
