No, it's not Dot Day...

Today we spent some time talking about apple picking and what our favorite color apples are. We began working on making apple suncatchers to hang from our windows to brighten our room and call it our own. We did this by coloring coffee filters with apple colors and the spritzing them with water to allow the color to bleed. We'll be putting the project together tomorrow. My family is going apple picking over the weekend and I told the kiddos that I would bring in a few so we can make crockpot applesauce next week. Yum! Once our beautiful suncatchers are done, I'll be sure to post a pic.

We've been talking about ordinal numbers the last couple of days in math- both how to read the words, first, second, third, etc as well as learning the shortcuts- 1st, 2nd, 3rd. We found the patterns between the words and the shortcuts. Have your child show you. (Ie: first / 1st). We'll be taking our first math test of the year on Tuesday. After I correct them, I'll be sending them home in your child's very special data binder at the beginning of next week. More info on the data binders to come soon.

Today for Read to Self we made it 12 minutes!!!! WOW! Our goal is to be able to make it to 20 minutes. We will be finding out how to choose just right books this week as well so we can begin filling our own personal browsing boxes.

Quick reminder that this Thursday is PICTURE DAY!
