Today we worked with base 10 blocks to help us learn about place value for 10s and 1s. We affectionately call the 1s, cubes, and the 10s sticks or fries. We learned that when writing the number 38 what we really mean is that we have 3 tens and 8 ones. We also learned how to regroup or trade when we had 10 or more cubes as 10s aren't allowed to stay in the ones house. Ask your child to show you how to make various numbers using lines for 10s and dots for 1s.
