Comparisons

As part of our study of place value this week, we learned about greedy fish.. also known as greater than ( > ) and less than ( < ) to you and I. We discussed how being greedy means that you always want more. The symbols that we know so well were used but we transformed them just a bit to look like a fish mouth. Write 2 numbers for your child and have them place "the greedy fish" in the correct place. Be careful, don't get bit!

This week we did several activities which focused on the greater than/less than concept. One of these was to order our animal cards from greatest to least. This was a good experience for the kiddos and really made them think about numbers and their values.
