A great week!

Today we learned that there are 3 ways to read a book: read the pictures, read the words, and  retell the story.

This is one of our early reading strategies to help all levels of readers feel and be successful. After modeling how each of these looks, we practiced using 4 of our baskets of books.  It was wonderful to see everyone excited about digging into great books.

This afternoon we did another get to know you activity. Students went around the room looking for friends that liked various things such as: ice cream, dogs, etc. This was a great way for them to get more information about each other and for small conversations to crop up about some of these favorites.

I hope you and your child have a wonderful weekend. Hopefully they will catch up on their sleep as I'm sure they're pooped from a busy week.
