Chrysanthemum

Today we read a story by Kevin Henkes called, Chrysanthemum which is about a mouse who loves her name until she starts going to school. After reading the story we talked about how saying hurtful things affects people and how it puts a crease in your heart. (ask your child about the wrinkled heart in our classroom) We also talked about how each of us is special and unique in our own ways and that we need to respect and embrace those differences. We also talked about how all of our names are special. Share with your child why you named them what you did.
After our discussion, we each traced our name and then colored them with our favorite colors and added pictures to the bubble letters of things that we liked or enjoyed doing.
