We had a blast during read to self time on F day. We built FORTS and read our FAVORITE books with FLASHLIGHTS.
This is what things looked like from my desk- Yikes! What a mess and where are the kiddos??? And if you looked a little closer.... this is what was really happening in our room... a WHOLE lot of smiles, fun, and most importantly- READING!!!
We had an awesome day for bubble day last Friday! The weather was gorgeous and we had a blast trying out all different shaped wands! Check out the short video below to see for yourself!
We also wrote some fantastic bubble poems- traditional and bubble word clouds. Be sure to check them out when you come for Writer's Tea!
We've been learning about 3D shapes. Today we went on a scavenger hunt in our classroom to find real examples of cubes, rectangular prisms, cylinders, and spheres.
We have been working hard on learning our colors in Spanish. We played a very cool game to help us practice today during our Spanish class. Click on the picture below to check it out for yourself. If you'd like to learn more about what we are studying during our Spanish time, check out this link on the district website. Have fun playing the color game!
We've finished up with our balls and ramps unit and had our final and official ball rolling competition. We've done a variety of these over the past weeks but today was winner take all.
We've learned much about energy, work, pushes and pulls, gravity, friction and momentum. Our science focus will be switching over to organisms for the next month. We'll be welcoming some very special critters into our classroom as we learn about and study various organisms. We'll be building 2 different habitats- an woodland terrarium and an aquarium as well. This is a usually a first grade favorite unit and I'm sure you'll begin to hear your child talk about many of our adventures!
