Happy 3rd day of school!!

Happy 3rd day of school!
Roll and Write Letter Review
It's been a fantastic start to the school year. I hope your child has been coming home and telling you all about their days. We've been working on learning the many routines associated with 1st grade from how to sign up for lunch to where to go for bandaids (the office is in a new location and surprised many of the kiddos when they 1st came in on Tuesday) If your family is anything like mine, your kiddos are probably pretty tired (and maybe even a little crabby) by 6:00. Rest assured, this will pass in the week or two!
Today was a busy day. We started our morning with a little Roll and Write review of letter writing, reviewed our numbers to 10, had a false alarm fire drill during lunch, and started our new Dog of the Day routine. Each student will get a chance to be our special person. We will interview them to get to know them a little bit better and then write a story together using the information. Afterwards, each of the students will write a couple of sentences on their own about our person in their Dog of the Day booklet. We also talk about the students' name. We clap the syllables, talk about how many vowels, look for little word chunks, and so much more.

I think we are all finally getting the hang of our end of the day routine- which bus line, walker or pick up line to be in. Thank you for your patience these 1st few days.

Last but not least, here's a video for you to enjoy with our 1st day of school pictures.

As always, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
